AI Hub Africa
Front door

AHA-BP-01 · FOUNDER BRIEF · 30 OCT 2026

Where Nigerians learn to ship AI, and get paid for it.

aihub.ng is the front door for a portfolio that already exists. This brief is the next 90 days: one cohort, four cities, tools that work on a phone, and the first money that is not a promise.

PUT THIS ON THE HOMEPAGE

AI Hub Africa is where Nigerians learn AI, ship tools that work here, and get paid.

AI Hub Africa is where Africans learn AI, build tools for how the continent actually works, and turn that work into income — toward advanced systems that speak our languages and know our problems.

7

Products already live. Do not launch an eighth before these point at one job.

40

Seats in cohort one. When it fills, start a waitlist. Do not stretch the room.

₦4,500

Builder, per month. Yearly is ₦40,000. Serious, and payable in Nigeria.

4

Cities. One in-person room a month. The others join on a phone.

01 · Position

A production system, not a gathering.

Global AI rooms sell belonging and news. AI Hub Africa sells a path from a prompt to naira, built for phones, patchy data, and languages people actually speak.

06Invoice a buyer

Income is the product

AI Tinkerers is a meetup near the frontier. Hugging Face is a place to host models. A WhatsApp group is a waiting room. None of them exist to get a Kaduna nursery, a JSS teacher, and a Kano trader paid for a tool that speaks the language and survives the network. That is the gap.

Constraints are the spec

Low bandwidth, Android-first, patchy power, Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Arabic, Pidgin, and the next language a buyer actually needs. Offline is a requirement you write down per tool, not a slogan on the hero.

The portfolio is the moat

Malam already teaches. OpenLibrary already holds knowledge. Arewa already has trust in the North. Kadroot already fulfills a local order. Postcode Academy already certificates practical work. Dole Ajimu already reaches creators. A new brand with none of this would be a newsletter.

The long bet, said without a launch video

Advanced systems should be trained and judged on African languages and on agriculture, education, health, commerce, culture, and governance — not patched afterward. You do not get there by announcing a lab. You get there with builders who already work in Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Arabic, and Pidgin, with datasets people were paid and asked about before they were recorded, and with tools that still help when the network is bad. Ninety days starts that habit. It does not ship a foundation model.

The site can still name students, developers, researchers, founders, educators, creators, and organizations. The work this quarter is narrower: builders who ship, and buyers who pay. Everyone else arrives through a ship or a sprint.

Decisions already made

Nigeria-first for 90 days

Kaduna, Kano, Abuja, Lagos. Pan-African stays on the about page. The operating plan follows the team, Arewa, Kadroot, Dole Ajimu, and Startup Arewa.

The homepage says income

Not “Africa’s AI community.” The line a stranger sees is that Nigerians learn AI, ship tools that work here, and get paid.

Cohort cap is 40

Free for the first four weeks if they show up to night one. No-shows are replaced from the warm list within 48 hours.

WhatsApp is the room

The feed on aihub.ng is the public record of ships. Do not build chat. Do not run the community on a tool members will not open.

No rewrite

Homepage, ships page, Paystack plan, WhatsApp. If the current site is fragile, fix those surfaces. A new platform is how this quarter dies.

No ads before a paid sprint

Organic only: Malam learners, Arewa, Startup Arewa, Dole Ajimu, personal notes. Ads start after a buyer has paid.

Pay people before you record them

No Hausa, Fulfulde, or any other dataset story in which contributors are “exposed” instead of paid. This is a business rule, not a footnote.

Manual payouts are allowed

The first 15 marketplace sellers can be paid by transfer from a ledger. Do not delay proof for split-payment engineering.

02 · Architecture

Integrate by ritual, not by merging code.

Each product keeps its name, its login, and its job. aihub.ng is where the work is pointed. A shared member code and a coupon beat a single-sign-on project you will not finish.

malam.app

malam.app
  • Generative AI Foundations and Build your first AI Agent finish with one CTA: 30 days of Builder on AI Hub. Codes can live in a sheet in week two.
  • Add one line to the tutor: if they ask what to do next, send them to Thursday’s build night, not another course.
  • Team Sprints teach Malam modules. Do not write a second curriculum.
  • Yearly Builder includes 20% off one Malam course per quarter, as a coupon.
  • Responsible AI is required reading before any data partnership. It is not a separate strategy.

Do not merge Malam login into the Hub this quarter. A coupon is enough.

The week, on purpose

Monday

One Malam lesson, linked. Not a recap of the internet.

Wednesday

OpenLibrary prompt of the week. Hub only points at it.

Thursday

Build night. Online, plus the one city that is in person.

Friday

Arewa or Dole Ajimu, and only if a member tool was actually used.

Monthly

One city, in a room. Everyone else on the same link.

03 · Three pillars

Share, ship, sell.

Knowledge without a Thursday becomes a reading group. A Thursday without a price becomes a demo. A marketplace without a ship becomes a form nobody trusts.

01

Community and knowledge

The feed earns its place or it goes.

  • Allowed posts: prompt, workflow, build log, opportunity, ask. Greetings, forwarded news, and “happy new week” come off the main feed.
  • Prompt library lives on OpenLibrary with the taxonomy above. Local-language patterns are recipes: the prompt, the model, the naira cost per 100 uses, and where it breaks offline.
  • Publish ten canonical prompts before demo day. Examples worth writing first: a Hausa price explanation short enough for one voice note, a Yoruba lesson gloss, a Pidgin complaint reply, an Arabic-Ajami note turned into a short English summary.
  • Moderation is a person, thirty minutes a day, not a model. Name them. The community lead can do it at the start.

02

Build

Thursday, 90 minutes, same script until it is boring.

  • 0–15. Last week’s ships, opened on a phone, live. If it does not load, it did not ship.
  • 15–75. Build. No lecture. The community lead watches the clock.
  • 75–90. Each person says what will be tryable next Thursday. If they cannot say it, they do not present next week.
  • A ship is something a stranger can try on a phone. A Colab notebook is not a ship. A WhatsApp bot, a small web form, a voice-note flow, a cached price sheet: those are ships.
  • Hackathon every six weeks, 48 hours, theme taken from a real buyer. Prize ₦200,000 plus a conversation about a paid pilot. The pilot is the prize. Cash is the receipt.
  • Online on Google Meet. Link goes into WhatsApp two hours before. Notes in a doc titled Ships — week N. The public page is updated the next morning.

03

Marketplace

A curated stall, not a flea market.

  • Members list agents, prompt packs, consented datasets, services, and small tools.
  • No listing until the seller has one public ship. Empty shops do not open.
  • Commission: 12% on digital goods, 8% on services invoiced through the Hub.
  • First catalogue is capped at 15 listings, chosen by the founder and the builder-in-residence.
  • Paystack for collection. Naira first. Diaspora cards can wait until a buyer actually asks. Payouts may be manual.
  • Price bands to publish so members do not race to zero: prompt pack ₦3,000–₦15,000. Done-for-you WhatsApp agent ₦80,000–₦400,000. A consented dataset is scoped, and contributors are paid before the license is sold.

04 · Business model

Membership filters. Buyers pay the team.

Eighty Builders at ₦4,500 is ₦360,000 a month. That does not pay a team. It proves the room is real. Team Sprints and tool pilots pay salaries. Do not optimize the small number and ignore the large one.

Observer

The top of the funnel from Malam, Arewa, and Dole Ajimu.

₦0

Stay free

  • Read the feed
  • Public prompts
  • Opportunity board

Builder

The room. Students, NYSC, and independents who will ship.

₦4,500

per month · ₦40,000 a year

  • Thursday build night
  • Prompt submission
  • Cohort seat
  • 20% off one Malam course a quarter on the yearly plan
  • Student and NYSC: ₦2,500, checked by hand, capped at 30% of the cohort

Studio

Freelancers and teams of up to three who already charge clients.

₦18,000

per month · ₦160,000 a year

  • Seller tools
  • One featured listing a quarter
  • Intro to one enterprise brief a quarter
  • The Builder certificate path

Diaspora Circle

People paid in dollars who want builders on the ground, not a newsletter.

$15

per month

  • Builder access
  • One monthly call with people shipping for African markets
  • Ten paying diaspora seats sponsor about eight student seats after fees. Do not promise one-for-one until you have seen Paystack and the rate.

How Malam feeds this

A Malam course is the thing people already pay for. Membership is the room they enter after. Completion of either flagship course starts a 30-day Builder trial. The yearly plan returns 20% off one course a quarter. Sprint content is the Malam curriculum with a Hub builder in the room. Do not write a parallel course so the brands can feel separate.

Assisted model runs are capped — start at 200 text runs a month for Builder — because one heavy user will eat a cohort priced like two meals.

SAY THIS TO A BUYER

We are not pitching a platform. We will spend two days with your team on one workflow you already do, in English and Hausa where you need it. Reference price is ₦850,000. The first named case study is ₦600,000. You leave with the workflow, not a slide.

The other two streams

Marketplace commission

12% digital, 8% services. Thirty transactions at an average ₦25,000 and a blended 10% is about ₦75,000. That will not carry the company in this quarter, and it should not. The marketplace exists so a member can point at money. It becomes procurement when a sprint buyer orders the next tool through it. Naira only, until a second currency has a human waiting on it.

Team Sprint

₦850,000–₦1,500,000

Two days, up to 20 staff, one workflow they already do. Delivered by a Malam tutor and one Hub builder. Abuja, Lagos, Kano, or Kaduna. The first named case study can be ₦600,000. Do not go lower.

Tool pilot

₦2.5m–₦6m

Four to six weeks. One workflow. A Hausa farmer helpline, a school quiz aligned to a real scheme of work, or a postcode-aware SME explainer. Not a platform. Not a retainer disguised as discovery.

Language partnership

From the hours, not from hope

A consented corpus, speakers recruited through Arewa and Dole Ajimu, contributors paid first. Do not take it under ₦4 million unless a funder is paying speakers directly. Cheap data work becomes extraction.

Ninety-day target for this stream: two sprints signed or one sprint plus a pilot in negotiation. Not ten. The honest year-one membership picture, if Thursday works, is about 80 paying Builders by month three and 250 Builders plus 20 Studios by month six. Do not model ten thousand members. Model four hundred people who ship.

05 · Launch

Ninety days to proof, not to scale.

You already have products, a logo, social accounts, a CAC certificate, and a willing team. The gap is a public trail of ships and one invoice that is not from a course.

  1. PHASE 0

    Lock the shape

    Days 1–7

A sentence, a room, a list of thirty humans, a person who owns Thursday.

    • Homepage sentence goes live. About page keeps the longer pan-African line.
    • Four roles named on one page. Community lead is a name, not a hope.
    • WhatsApp Community open, rules pinned.
    • Thirty voice notes sent. Use the script in This week.
    • Paystack plans created, not announced.
    • Builder-in-residence starts the thinnest version of one founder ship.
  2. PHASE 1

    First cohort, first ships

    Weeks 2–4

Forty seats. Thursday becomes a habit. Three founder ships set the bar.

    • Open Builder. First four weeks free for whoever attends night one, then ₦4,500. Cap 40.
    • Week 2 is online only. Week 3 is Kaduna in person if the venue has said yes. Week 4 is Abuja only if fifteen names are real.
    • Ten prompts published on OpenLibrary with the taxonomy filled in.
    • Malam banners and trial codes go on the two flagship courses.
    • By week 4 you want 20 people in the room. The floor is 12. Under 12, do not open another city.
  3. PHASE 2

    Public proof

    Weeks 5–8

A demo day a buyer could sit through without being embarrassed.

    • Cohort-one demo day. Main room in Kaduna or Abuja. Lagos as a watch party if the names are real. Livestream, then a short cut for Arewa or Dole Ajimu.
    • Eight to twelve ships, each with the case-study fields. If you have fewer than six, delay the marketplace.
    • Open the curated marketplace with those ships. Manual payouts are fine.
    • Five buyer conversations already on the calendar. Two written proposals out. One verbal yes is a win.
    • Kano night, co-branded with Arewa, if Kaduna attendance held.
  4. PHASE 3

Money that is not the founder

    Weeks 9–12

Members pay, or a buyer pays. Preferably both. Publish the proof either way.

    • Convert cohort one. Expect 25–40% to pay. Under 15%, the night is entertainment. Change the format before you tell anyone to “engage.”
    • Run one paid Team Sprint, even at the ₦600,000 reference price, or take the kickoff on a tool pilot.
    • Publish a 90-day proof page: members, ships, naira members earned, languages, cities. Small numbers are allowed. Invented numbers are not.
    • Hackathon one: 48 hours, theme from the reference buyer, ₦200,000 plus a paid extension if the tool is real.
    • Diaspora Circle opens to twenty people you can actually call. Their fees fund student seats. Say the ratio you can truly cover.

Stop if

  • Under 12 people at build night by week 4: no second city. Fix the room.
  • Fewer than 6 ships by demo day: no marketplace. An empty stall is worse than none.
  • Under 15% conversion after the free month: change Thursday before any campaign.
  • No buyer on the calendar by week 6: the founder spends that week on five calls and nothing else.

Rooms, power, and the network

  • One physical city a month. Kaduna first, because the team, Kadroot, and Dole Ajimu are there. Then Kano with Arewa. Then Abuja or Lagos, whichever has fifteen warm names. Do not fly to an empty room.
  • Everyone else is on the same Meet. Notes are text, the same night. Video is optional and small.
  • If the network or the generator fails, the night continues in WhatsApp. It still ends with: what will be tryable next Thursday.

06 · Technical

Use what already survived contact with Nigeria.

Affordable here means a stack a small team can operate when the power drops, not a diagram of services you will pay for and not learn. Reuse Malam, OpenLibrary, Postcode Academy, and Kadroot’s order states.

Use

The site you have

aihub.ng already has the feed, learning paths, opportunities, projects, and a research copilot. Extend the ships page and the membership call-to-action. Do not replatform.

Postgres you already trust

New tables only when the marketplace needs them: members, ships, listings, orders. Link to OpenLibrary by URL. Do not merge catalogs.

Paystack

Recurring Builder and Studio in naira. A test charge this week, refunded. Put Paystack’s fee on top of the price in your head, or ₦4,500 is fiction.

Malam’s model bill

One provider, shared pattern, one invoice. Builder starts at 200 assisted text runs a month, counter visible. After that, the prompt still works in their own account. No unlimited frontier usage at this price.

WhatsApp, Meet, a doc

That is the community stack. Certificate PDFs follow Postcode Academy. Images compressed. No autoplay. Pages should still make sense if every image fails.

Offline, scoped

Week 6, not week 1: cache the prompt library shell so a page opens after one visit. A small on-device model is a member project with a written recipe. It is not platform infrastructure this quarter.

Do not build

  • A native app
  • Unified login across Malam, Arewa, OpenLibrary, and the Hub
  • A training cluster, or any sentence that starts with “our foundation model”
  • A new LMS, a new library, or in-app chat
  • A token, a coin, or a points economy
  • Multi-currency checkout before a diaspora buyer has asked twice
  • A service worker, a design-system rewrite, or a logo redesign this week

07 · Content

Proof travels. Inspiration does not.

No ads until a sprint is paid. The audiences already exist inside Malam, Arewa, Startup Arewa, and Dole Ajimu. Speak to them like people who have seen a thousand AI posters.

X

Public proof. Ships, naira, build-night facts, the founder’s voice. Not a recap of global AI news.

LinkedIn

Buyers and diaspora. Case studies and the sprint offer. Write as if a permanent secretary’s aide might forward it.

WhatsApp

The actual product. Status from the community lead. City broadcast lists. A ship card someone can forward to a cousin.

Malam

Banner, tutor nudge, and a note to people who already bought a course. This is the warmest list you have.

Arewa

One northern feature a week: an opportunity, a language ship, or a Kano or Kaduna night. Paste it. Do not wait on an integration.

Dole Ajimu

One cultural piece a month that used a member tool. Comedy or music. Kaduna voice. Not a corporate explainer.

OpenLibrary

Prompt of the week is the page a search engine can find. The Hub post only points at it.

01

Ship logs

Who shipped, the link, the city, what it cost to run. If there is no link, it is not a post.

02

Language patterns

One prompt in Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Pidgin, or Arabic, plus a plain note on where it fails. English is allowed. English-only as the default is not.

03

Income receipts

“A Studio member billed ₦120,000 for a school quiz bot.” Anonymize the buyer if you must. Do not anonymize the number.

04

City rooms

Where, when, who it is for. Faces and a venue. Not stock energy, not “link in bio” with no city.

Posts you can send

X

Kaduna build night 03. Twelve people. Four phones, one generator, one MiFi. Three ships: a Hausa fertilizer-price note, a JSS2 basic-science quiz, and a nursery order summarizer for Kadroot sellers. If you can ship on a phone, you can be in the room. First four weeks are free if you show up. Then ₦4,500 a month.

LinkedIn

Most AI training in Nigeria ends on a slide. A Team Sprint with AI Hub Africa ends with one workflow your staff used on Friday. Two days. Up to twenty people. Your actual documents. English and Hausa where the work needs it. Abuja, Lagos, Kano, or Kaduna. Reference price is ₦850,000 to ₦1,500,000. The first named case study is ₦600,000. We will not pitch you a platform. We will ship one workflow.

WhatsApp

Prompt of the week is on OpenLibrary. “Explain this market price in Hausa, short enough for one voice note.” Try it before Thursday. Bring what broke. Build night is 90 minutes. No lecture.

Arewa

Arewa × AI Hub, Kano. Not a lecture. Bring a problem from your shop, school, or farm. We will try to leave with a small tool a person can open on a phone. If you have built with Malam, come show it. If you have never built, come with the problem.

Dole Ajimu

Made in Kaduna. The joke is his. The draft came from a tool a member built on AI Hub. The tool writes a Pidgin and Hausa beat sheet. It does not replace the comedian. Prompt pack ₦5,000, or a Studio member will set it up.

The only weekly numbers

Follower count stays out of the meeting.

Attendance

20 by week 4. Floor 12. This is the only vanity number that matters, and it is not vanity.

Ships

8 on the public page by day 60, each with the case-study fields filled.

Conversion

25–40% of the free cohort pays. Under 15%, change the night.

Proposals

2 written proposals out by week 8. A verbal yes counts only if a date is on a calendar.

Loop, if it works: Malam completion, WhatsApp invite, Thursday, a ship, a listing, a public post, a new learner. Diaspora fees fund student seats. A sprint leaves behind one staff member who becomes a Studio.

08 · Public proof

Eight ships. Then two more if the eight are real.

The founder team starts three of these before members are asked to perform: the nursery assistant, the JSS quiz, and the Hausa price note. Every case study names a city, a language, whether it survives a dead network, who tried it, what 100 uses cost, the price, and what failed.

  1. 01Hausa market price note

Pilot ₦400,000–₦1.2m, or a prompt pack at ₦5,000

Agri · Kano or Kaduna · Hausa · last week’s sheet works offline

A farmer names a crop and a market. The tool returns a short price range and who to call, as text or a voice note. Data is a weekly sheet from five Arewa members, not a scraped fantasy. WhatsApp bot or a tiny form.

First buyer. A trader association or an agri extension NGO.

Watch. If the sheet is not updated, say so. A confident wrong price is worse than silence.

  2. 02Kadroot nursery assistant

Free to those sellers. The case study is the payment. A Studio member later charges other markets ₦80,000 to set the same thing up.

Commerce · Kaduna · English and Hausa · online, last stock cached

A seller says what they have in plain language. The tool drafts a Kadroot listing and a customer reply using real categories from the nursery marketplace.

First buyer. Kadroot sellers. The first users are already in the portfolio.

Watch. Do not invent stock. If it is not in the seller’s message, it is not in the listing.

  3. 03JSS basic-science quiz

School setup ₦150,000–₦400,000. Sprint if they want the staff trained.

Education · Kaduna · English with a Hausa glossary · printable, so offline after export

A teacher names a topic from the scheme of work. The tool returns ten questions, answers, and a short Hausa gloss of terms students mix up. Answer-key habit comes from Postcode Academy, not from a new LMS.

First buyer. One secondary school, then a state basic-education desk if the first teacher will say it worked.

Watch. A teacher has to mark a sample before you show it to a principal. Wrong science is a reputation event.

  4. 04Pidgin customer desk

    ₦80,000–₦150,000 per shop.

Commerce · Lagos or Kaduna · Pidgin and plain English · text, low bandwidth

A shop owner forwards a WhatsApp complaint. The tool drafts a calm reply and flags refund versus explain. It does not send the reply on its own.

First buyer. The shop. Studio members resell the setup.

Watch. Never auto-send. A bad refund promise is a real loss.

  5. 05Postcode explainer for SMEs

Leads for the Academy. A training sprint if an agency wants staff taught.

Commerce · Lagos, Kano, Kaduna · plain English · text

An owner describes a street. The tool explains how to get and use a digital postcode using Postcode Academy’s actual lessons, then links to post.malam.app.

First buyer. SMEs who already ask you this, and any postcode or state ICT contact you truly have.

Watch. Do not invent addressing rules. If the curriculum does not say it, the tool does not say it.

  6. 06Arewa heritage voice card

Project fee. The teller is paid for the session even if the card is never used.

Culture · Kano or Kaduna · Hausa, English summary · audio stays with the teller

A 60-second story becomes a title, a short English summary for diaspora, and a card for Arewa and Dole Ajimu. Nothing posts until the teller approves the summary.

First buyer. Arewa, a cultural NGO, or diaspora family associations.

Watch. This is the public ethic for every later dataset. Approval before publish. Pay before record.

  7. 07Clinic reminder

₦300,000–₦800,000 setup, or fold it into a sprint.

Health · one clinic · Hausa and English · the register never goes into a public prompt

Name, date, language. The tool drafts an SMS or a voice-note reminder. No diagnosis. No symptoms. The template runs on data the clinic holds.

First buyer. A small clinic, an NGO, or an LGA health desk.

Watch. If patient data would have to be pasted into a public model, you do not ship it. Say that in the case study.

  8. 08Ward letter drafter

₦200,000–₦600,000, or a sprint if they want staff to draft the next ten themselves.

Governance · Kaduna or Kano · English letter, Hausa summary · text

A community leader describes a request — a borehole, a classroom. The tool drafts a formal letter and a Hausa summary for the ward meeting, in a format a local champion already uses.

First buyer. A councillor’s office, a community association, or a governance NGO.

Watch. Do not claim it was submitted. Do not add accusations the speaker did not make.

09 · IF THE ROOM IS STRONG

Creator caption pack

Title, description, and Hausa or English captions for a Dole Ajimu song or skit. Sell the pack at ₦5,000. Only if the eight above are moving.

010 · IF THE ROOM IS STRONG

Offline lesson pack

One Malam chapter as text and a quiz that opens with no network after the first download. This is the proof that “low bandwidth” is a feature. Week 6 at the earliest.

09 · Start here

This week, in order.

Ten items. Saved in this browser. Do them from the top. The invite script and the roles sit above the list so you are not inventing them at midnight.

Founder

Homepage sentence, the five buyers, the narrative. You do not also secretly own Thursday.

Community lead

WhatsApp, the clock, attendance, replacements. If this person is not named by Friday, do not send the invites.

Builder-in-residence

Three example ships before members are asked to perform. Part-time stipend ₦150,000–₦250,000 for the 90 days if it is not you. Cheaper than a failed cohort.

Ops

Paystack, CAC invoices, the venue, the certificate PDF. Half a day a week is enough at the start.

VOICE NOTE

We are opening a 40-person build room. Thursday nights. You ship something a person can try on a phone. First four weeks are free if you show up. Then ₦4,500. I want you in it because [one specific reason]. Reply yes and I will add you.
